Participants will explore high-impact strategies that elevate cognitive rigor and content complexity in any subject area. Rooted in student-centered practices, this workshop provides actionable tools for ELA, math, science, social studies, and beyond. Whether you're designing a lab, a novel study, or a performance task, you'll leave with ready-to-use strategies that foster curiosity, collaboration, and conceptual understanding.

Eric Rhoades

Eric Rhoades is committed to transforming the future of education through practical, research-based practices for #EveryoneIsASciencePerson. He is a seasoned professional focused on supporting educators on their journey to becoming a better tomorrow than they are today. His journey as an educator and leader has spanned over three decades, and he is fueled by the relentless pursuit of fostering excellence and growth within K-12 education and the workforce. He is the Co-Founder and Lead Consultant of the Collaborative Teaching and Learning Group Consulting, LLC, President of the Virginia Association of Science Teachers, and NSELA Mentor Subcommittee Chair. His passion is to support educators in their path to excellence.

Skip Tyler

Skip Tyler is a mathematics consultant, educator, and author committed to reshaping the way mathematics is taught and learned. As the Co-Founder and Lead Consultant of the Collaborative Teaching and Learning Group Consulting, he partners with schools and districts nationwide to support teachers and administrators in implementing instructional best practices that foster student-centered classrooms. A frequent presenter at national, state, and local conferences, Skip has held leadership roles in national, state and regional mathematical organizations. He is the co-author of Math Workshop: Five Steps to Implementing a Student-Centered Learning Environment (6-12), a book that guides teachers in creating collaborative, discourse-rich classrooms that encourage productive struggle and build strong math communities. Whether leading professional learning sessions or working directly with schools, Skip is dedicated to "changing the story" of mathematics education to make it more inclusive, engaging, and impactful for all learners. Workshop Series Cost

The workshop fee is $160 for each participant who is a member of a school division that is a member of VaSCL. You can check here for member divisions.

The registration fee for participants from Non-Member school divisions is $199.

If you would like to pay now by credit card or through a PayPal/credit account, you will be given an opportunity to do so below.

If payment is not made by credit card/PayPal account at registration, the person whom you identified as the Billing Contact will be sent an invoice for payment of your registration fee.

Refund Policy

VaSCL has a no refund policy for workshop registrations.

We are happy to allow a substitute to attend in your place. Allison will need to know the person’s name and email address for confirmation.
