Workshop Details

The Data Revolution is transforming modern life and we need to equip all of our students with a data literacy skillset to succeed in their world. Create equitable access to data literacy by infusing data science into all content as a tool for problem-solving and decision-making. Open doors to higher education, high-paying jobs, and engagement in the community through data science!

Bring data literacy to your classroom by design. Learn how to infuse data literacy skills into the content lessons you already teach. Our co-facilitators will differentiate data literacy for different grade levels and content in our workshop.

Experience the thrill of analyzing big data with spreadsheets and CODAP while getting a glimpse into the power of programming. No coding skills are needed! D

In the morning, the Virginia Data Science Team leads will immerse you in hands-on data literacy experiences and guide you through some of the free tools to see the power of big data. In the afternoon breakouts, you will team up with educators from your content area: Math, CS, CTE, Science, SS/Humanities, and Elementary.  See the connections to your Virginia Standards of Learning and Competencies and try out data sets related to your content. Leave knowing how to add the relevance of real-world data to any content.

Want more data science integration? Return for two virtual follow-up sessions: Infuse Data Science Skills into your Existing Lesson Plans and Infuse Data Science into your Transdisciplinary Projects. Modernize how your learners become both consumers and producers of data!
