Event Schedule

Session 1: November 3, 2021     4:30-6:00PM

Amplifying Student Voice: You’re Muted!

Participants will identify opportunities to improve student engagement, gather student input to further develop school culture and evaluate current programs for equitable access. Participants will:

      • Develop a deeper understanding of the what and why of student engagement. Hint: It is more than just the advisory group or SCA.
      • Explore strategies that create space for student voice and culture development
      • Learn critical questions necessary to audit current student engagement activities for equitable access
      • Develop an action plan rooted in the Virginia L.E.A.R.N.S. & EdEquity VA frameworks

Session 2  November 17, 2021   4:30-6:00PM

Amplifying Family Voice: Participants are in the waiting room!

Have you ever been excited to sign into a meeting that is in progress but are left in the waiting room? Consider this, for many family’s schools are a zoom meeting in progress, they are in the waiting room, but the host hasn’t slowed down enough to recognize they are waiting.

In this session participants will identify opportunities to authentically engage families in the education process and explore opportunities to increase engagement that is data informed. Participants will:

      • Discuss high leverage data points for consideration to develop an engagement action plan
      • Explore opportunities to welcome families as co-creators in the education process
      • Develop an action plan rooted in the Virginia L.E.A.R.N.S. & EdEquity VA frameworks

Session 3: December 1, 2021     4:30-6:00PM

Amplifying Community Voice: Where is the link?

Oh no! There is a meeting that you need to be a part of but you can’t find the right link. Community partners are looking for ways to not only connect with schools but want to provide resources to students and families. In this session participants will explore barriers to meaningful community engagement, consider the benefits of “non-traditional” community partnerships, and share successes experienced during schools closure.

      • Develop a deeper understanding of the impact of school and community partnership through the lens of collective impact.
      • Share success in community engagement as a result of extended school closures
      • Identify relevant data sources to support  and monitor engagement strategies
      • Develop an action plan rooted in the Virginia L.E.A.R.N.S. & EdEquity VA frameworks

Recertification Certificates (5 points) will be given at the end of the PD workshop series after completion of an electronic exit survey.
